Directors Note:
Hello and welcome to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! It has been an absolute joy working alongside this incredibly talented cast and crew to bring this sharp, hilarious, and delightfully cunning musical to life. With music and lyrics by David Yazbek and the book by Jeffrey Lane, this stage adaptation captures the spirit of the beloved film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels while adding its own vibrant theatrical flair.
At its heart, this story reminds us of something deeply human: our desire to be seen, to be valued, and to belong. The characters we meet may be masters of deception, but beneath their schemes lies a truth we can all recognize鈥攖hings are not always as they appear, and often, perception shapes reality more than fact. Through quick wit, bold risks, and elaborate illusions, these con artists invite us into a world where identity is fluid and charm is currency, all while revealing glimpses of their authentic selves.
In many ways, we all perform our own version of sleight of hand in everyday life鈥攑resenting carefully chosen versions of ourselves, hoping to tip the odds in our favor. What I love most about this show, however, is its celebration of connection and kindred spirits. When we encounter someone who sees the world as we do鈥攚ho matches our rhythm, our humor, our perspective鈥攍ife becomes richer, brighter, and far more fun.
Thank you for joining us on this playful and unpredictable journey. Sit back, enjoy the ride, and remember鈥 not everything is quite what it seems.
~ Amanda Clark
